A Simple Fella by Ranarh A Simple Fella by Ranarh
This is a simple journal skin, which should fit the overall style of deviantArt. It has no colourful header or background, but you can...

Pick a Fella!
The ASF-Skin supports over a dozen different Fellas*; you can choose which one you want to lurk at your journal's top, or change him every other day.
Thanks go to greatLP for his ingenious Fella-Designs.
*) You know, deviantArt's symbolic iconic robotic cat guy.

-- Detailed manual --

Menu Items:
That would be those "Links" within the second box.
They are to be found within the "Skin Header" edit field, which appears when you hit "Edit Skin". There is a DIV element with the class "menu". Within you'll find/place your menu items. Which are "A" tags. If you are not sure what I'm talking about, copy mine: From [a] to [/a] (read "<" ">" instead of "[" "]"). There is a attribute called href="", copy the URL into the "" (URL = address - copy it from your browser's nav bar) and everything between [a] and [/a] is the name of the menu item. This will appear in the menu box. If you know all of this ignore me ;)

No simple text:
To get the most out of the skin you have to use DIV elements to contain your text. Every first-level-DIV will create a new container for one main-headline and one content region (e.g., one box with the bright headline bar). A main headline needs its own DIV-Element with the class "head", and a content region needs a DIV element with the class "txt".
Just in case... A DIV element is a tag: [div] content [/div], just with "<", ">" instead of "[" and "]". They work like parentheses: [div] opens, [/div] closes.
So a Simple Fella Box would read like this: [div][div class="head"] your headline [/div][div class="txt"] your content [/div][/div]

Sub-Headline:
Within a content region you may use sub-headlines by utilizing a SPAN element: [span] your sub-headline [/span] (again, use "<", ">" instead of "[" and "]")

Mood 'n Stuff:
The skin settings let you choose to display the moodstuff at the top - that will not work with "A Simple Fella". Don't set "Show these:" to "At the top of my entry".

Finally I'm telling you how to change the Fella:
Go to the "Edit Skin" view, and find the edit field called "Skin Header". The first DIV element sets the fella, it is the "fellahold" this is the class name followed by the fella's name: , e.g., class="fellahold fellajedi". Just change the name of the fella: class="fellahold fellaHISNAME". Besides my own fellajedi, "A simple fella" is set to support plenty of fellas made by greatLP.

Not enough? You want even MOAR fellas? Yay for fellas! You'll have to create a new CSS entry for each fella, look into the CSS for examples. Just ask me if you need help.

You have to click 'edit skin' -> in 'Skin Header' change class="fellahold ..." to class="fellahold fellaboo" (maybe it's just the spelling boo with two o's ;))

Does it work?

Oh and thanks for letting us use various fellas. That's a brilliant idea and it makes your skin even more pleasant to use : both simple and personal!
