"On either side near the great dark, one can hear the Holy Spirit louder than most. Some of the listeners become voices, advising and counseling all of us. The voices are the ones who protect us from the genius loci, who keep the balance, and listen to the thoughts of the world. Their greatest hall is in Clom Vah; it is guarded by dryads, they say." — Amri Killanan, to her grandchildren
Finally another finished illustration for my fantasy setting Genius Loci. The voices are either small children or elders, others are near death due to sickness; except for elves, who can hear the Spirit all their lives if they listen. The guarding statues are called the sitting dryads; interesting, as dryads have neither legs nor do they sit. It is said that during the Splinter War, they walked there, sat, and never moved again.
Genius Loci is a world where spirits and ghosts walk among the people, where legendary creatures cause the rise or fall of empires, and where the races share unique cultures. Its mystical landscapes are soaked with magic and populated with riddles and legends.
