I've done quite a few starry skies lately, so I thought I should share how to do them. Some advanced tips: For more colours in stars, you can either set your brush to colour variation, paint differently coloured strokes, or lock the transparency to colour the stars. Big stars' halos are often white-centered and coloured on their edges. All stars must share the same effects, e.g. flare in the same directions, have the same type of halo etc.
"Ranarh's tiny tips" is a collection of iddy-biddy tutorials, each containing small bites of advice anyone can chew, aimed at beginner's level artists. They are not software-dependent. If there's a problem you have, something you feel someone should finally explain, or are just curious what I have to say on a particular artistic issue, feel free to tell me.
