Wild west town by Ranarh Wild west town by Ranarh
Finally. This assignment for #Weekly-Environment nearly scared me into submission when my first attempt failed horribly. But I tackled it again, paid a lot more attention, made a 3D model, and got some fancy fonts, and here we are, a wild west town concept, complete with sheriff.
I now take my failure as a hundred percent proof that thumbnails are a must before starting a picture.

A beautiful Western town in a grassy, verdant, temperate region, populated by well-dressed, well-behaved people ...

What were your inspirations for this drawing?

Thanks! The reason I painted it was a competition in a group. The inspirations I used were mainly the two films "Open Range", which I also liked very much for the main characters, and "True Grit", on which I based an earlier sketch I didn't like enough to go through with. Open Range was particularly useful in such that it wasn't so far south, so I dared use some green in the far back.

I love the looseness at the bottom of the composition. But I think it's the fonts that make the piece, lovely detail :)

It's amazing how much it depends on the fonts if the setting is immediately recognizable.

Thanks for the compliment :thanks:

Thank you! Getting the dusty wild west atmosphere right was actually a bit difficult.

Danke.
